“Gabriela,” I say, her name a prayer on my lips as I step into the night, the cold air embracing me like an old friend. The weight of my newfound purpose lends strength to my step, and determination courses through my veins like fire.

My heart pounds with a mixture of fear and anticipation as I make my way toward Gabriela’s home. Her silhouette dances behind the curtains, a vision that fuels my relentless pursuit of our shared eternity.

“Gabriela!” I call out, the urgency in my voice betraying my composure. She opens the door cautiously, her warm brown eyes clouded with confusion and concern.

“Danti, what’s wrong?” she asks, her melodious voice trembling ever so slightly.

“May I come in? We must talk, cara mia,” I implore, my gaze unwavering.

“Of course,” she whispers, stepping aside to let me pass.

Once inside, I take her hands in mine and look deep into her eyes. “My love, there’s something I must tell you—something I have hidden from you for fear of losing you.”

“Tell me, Danti,” she replies softly, squeezing my hands reassuringly. “You can share anything with me.”

“Gabriela, I am not what I seem.” I begin hesitantly, my mind racing with thoughts of how to explain my true nature. “I am a vampire, born from the depths of the Shadow Realm. I have survived by consuming the spirits and souls of others, transporting their souls to the Realm from where I came.”

She stares at me, disbelief etched on her beautiful face. “A vampire, Danti? This is... impossible.”

“Believe me, my love, I wish it were not true,” I confess, pain lacing my words. “But I cannot lie to you any longer. My life is sustained by the spirits of others, and as long as I continue this dark existence, I shall never age.”

“Then... how can we be together? How can our love endure if...” She trails off, tears welling in her eyes.

“Gabriela,” I whisper, my voice thick with emotion. “There is a way—a risky path that may grant us both immortality. But I must know if you will accept such a gift, for the price we may pay is steep indeed.”

“I... I don’t know, Danti,” she replies, her voice barely audible. “This is all so overwhelming.”

“Take your time, Cara Mia,” I reassure her, hoping against hope that she will embrace the eternity we could share. “But know that my love for you is boundless, and I would do anything to safeguard our future together.”

“Will I become like you if I accept?” she whispers.

“No, you will still be you. Just eternal and immortal. We will visit century after century together. We will live in different parts of the world. We will become whoever we want to be and love each other for all eternity.”

“Danti, I have a hard time believing all this. And you are scaring me with your words. I have to ask you to leave. I need time to think.”

As I leave Gabriela’s home that night, her words echo through my mind, sending shivers down my spine.
